Low Progesterone and Fertility Issues with Hashimoto’s

I have had trouble conceiving due to Hashimoto’s and low progesterone levels — actually I seem to be low in all hormones. Has anyone been able to heal themselves of this issue and go on to have healthy babies? If so, how did you do it? I am currently seeing a functional medicine doctor that has helped me immensely and has me on a bucketful of supplements, I take split doses Armour in the morning and evenings, am seeing an acupuncturist as well as a chiropractor that practices NSA, and I do body-mind connection exercises daily. I’ve gone gluten free (not completely grain free yet) and am thinking about trying AIP if things don’t turn around soon. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had low progesterone when trying to conceive my second child as well as elevated thyroid anti-bodies. It wasn't until after I'd delivered that the doc diagnosed me with Hashimoto's. I used progesterone cream for months before conception. I went to a chiropractor who practices N.A.E.T. every couple of months and had all of my hormones tested and reset before, during and after pregnancy. I did a cleanse to rid my body of false estrogens. I went to a naturopath who told me that Armour would make my thyroid work better which would cause my antibodies to attack even more. She suggested that I take the synthetic thyroid replacement.. which I did. I went on a strict diet. No gluten or other grains except rice and quinoa, no sugar, no dairy, no vinegar, no alcohol. I always take a DHA/EPA, calcium, prenatal, vitamin D 5000, vit C, & B complex. The only thing I added while trying to conceive and during was folic acid. We tried for a long time... had a miscarry, finally started to give up on having another baby and tada! It happened. Also found that trying the day or two after menstration was the key... before any signs of ovulation. Baby is completely healthy. I hope this helps. Good luck! :-)

While I did not experience low progesterone, my first pregnancy triggered autoimmune issues in my body, including Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. After a long three yr journey of many miscarriages and many doctors (a few amazing ones that knew what they were doing!), I went on a complex autoimmune protocol and received ivig treatments during my second successful pregnancy. What I learned is that though your Hashimoto's may not be directly causing infertility, it may be a sign of other autoimmune issues that are linked together and that may be causing issues. My doctors never exactly determined what it was that was causing my secondary infertility, but they were pretty certain that it was underlying autoimmune issues. I would suggest seeing a specialist that has a thorough understanding of how autoimmune issues impact fertility, and also a specialist who can prescribe a nutritional protocol to calm your immune system. Gluten free is step one. Please feel free to ask me any further questions. And read the book Is My Body Baby Friendly by Dr Beers! He pioneered the immunological infertility world. http://www.babyfriendlybook.com/
I'm sorry you're experiencing this!
